Ruby leading Girls LitClubs in Manila, Philippines

LitWorld is a non-profit organization based in NYC focused on combatting illiteracy worldwide. Their Girls LitClub program “provides safe spaces for girls to cultivate social-emotional development by building resilience and literacy skills together”. Through reading and writing exercises, participants find their voice and a sense of community.

In 2010, Ruby led a Girls LitClub in Harlem, NYC. From 2011-2012, she became the first Global LitCorps Ambassador for the organization, where she spearheaded the development of the Girls LitClub program in a brand new continent, within her home country of the Philippines. She not only led programs on the field, but also trained global educators in Africa, Middle East, Asia, and the United States on the Girls LitClub Program.

In addition to her work in LitWorld’s programs, Ruby also served as the Social Media & Community Manager. In this role, she led the launch of the organization's social media platforms, executed social media campaigns, managed the organization’s social media channels, and created content that aligned with the LitWorld story. Through her work with LitWorld, she helped to raise awareness of the organization in 65 different countries.
